Laccess to drinking water is recognised globally as a fundamental right for the well-being of society and an indispensable priority in workplaces, schools and public spaces. Last 28 April, on the occasion of the World Day for Health and Safety at Workestablished by the International Labour Organisation, the focus was once again on the importance of prevention and protecting the health of every worker. In this scenario, ensuring access to clean water makes a difference: for the respect of human dignity, the prevention of disease and the improvement of the quality of daily life.

DKR, a company specialising in the design, supply and installation of water dispensers and water houses for companies, schools, public authorities and communities both in Italy and abroad, puts the promotion of access to drinking water at the centre of its missionOur commitment is to make this right more and more concrete and widespread in every context.

Access to drinking water: why it is a fundamental right and a priority for collective well-being

Italian regulations: from Law 626 to the Consolidation Act

Italian regulatory developments have always emphasised the role of access to drinking water for the health of workers. The historical law 626/1994now merged into the Legislative Decree 81/2008 (Occupational Safety Consolidation Act)It imposes specific obligations on employers. Every workplace must ensure adequate hygienic conditions, including the continuous availability of safe, easily accessible and sufficiently distributed drinking water, as explained in Annex 4 of Legislative Decree 81/08 under 1.13.1.

This is not a mere formal fulfilment, but the explicit recognition of an essential need that meets the psychophysical well-being of workers and reduces risk situations related to dehydration, decreased attention and the onset of physical disorders.

Responsibility and benefit for companies and workers

Support access to drinking water is not only a legal obligationresults in higher productivity, less absenteeism and a safer, more comfortable working environment. Proper hydration has proven effects on concentration, performance and resistance to stress.

A good level of water comfort promotes more serene relations between colleagues and a positive perception of the workplace. DKR accompanies companies and public bodies in transforming legislation into effective and visible action by choosing water vending machines suitable for every need. Thanks to DKR consulting and technology, every company can now adopt tailor-made solutions that meet the real needs of their employees and users, ensuring innovation and a positive outlook towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Concrete solutions: water dispensers and water houses for every reality

Office water dispensers: advanced technology and customisation

Today, the presence of modern and reliable public water dispensers is a sign of organisational civilisation. DKR dispensers, customisable in function and design, bring access to drinking water directly into offices and public spaces, providing microfiltered, chilled and - on request - carbonated or mineralised water.

Touchless solutions and advanced filtering systems allow both hygienic safety and environmental friendliness

Reducing the need for single-use plastic bottles is not only a benefit for the ecosystem, but also a economic savings for the company itself.

Water dispensers and water houses

The installation of water houses distributed at strategic points in schools, neighbourhoods and cities enables democratic, sustainable and participatory access to drinking water. Children thus learn the good practices of water bottle reuse and conscious hydration, while families and the entire community benefit from a service that supports inclusion and social cohesion.

A water house thus becomes a real meeting point for citizens, helping to strengthen ties between residents and promoting a shared culture of environmental responsibility. They also encourage the prospect of increasingly reducing the consumption of single-use bottles and, consequently, reducing the environmental impact of plastic production and disposal.

By doing so, the entire community actively participates in building a more sustainable future, ensuring a public service that is both economical, useful and valuable.

Sustainability and environmental responsibility: less plastic, more future

The impact of good practices on the environment

Every litre of 'self-service' water dispensed by a water house or in-house dispenser represents one less bottle to produce, transport and dispose of. Municipalities and companies that rely on DKR to ensure the best possible supply of this essential resource, embrace a sustainable lifestyle and contribute to the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.

Savings on waste management and supply costs are transformed into a tangible benefit for budgets, while the very gesture of filling up with public water becomes a positive example for all.

Culture of prevention and widespread training

The value of access to drinking water does not end with the installation of systems: DKR is actively involved in promoting good hydration practices, awareness-raising campaigns and training activities in schools and companies. These information paths involve students, teachers, workers and citizens, creating a new awareness of the importance of daily hydration and the impact of one's choices on the environment.

Only an informed population can be a true protagonist of sustainability, public health and the fight against waste. Education thus becomes a tool for collective growth, capable of generating concrete benefits for the wellbeing of the community.

Invest today in drinking water: a right for the future

In this article we have specified how access to drinking water represents a indispensable component for everyday life and for the proper functioning of workplaces, schools and public environments. It is not just a question of satisfying a basic need, but of ensuring adequate sanitary conditions and promoting people's health.

The availability of drinking water today, also regulated by specific regulations in Italy and abroad, is an integral part of the safety, prevention and sustainability strategies adopted by companies, public bodies and communities.

DKR is a pioneer in the design, supply and installation of water houses and distributors also abroad, constantly working to offer practical and safe solutions.
