On Saturday 26 September, on a festive morning for the community, the Second Water House in Cinisello Balsamolocated at a strategic point in the city, at the intersection of Viale Abruzzi and Via Umbria. This event not only represents the installation of a new service, but marks a further step in a project with a profound social and ecological value.
The beating heart of this initiative lies in the valuable collaboration with Anffas Onlus, the association of families of people with intellectual and/or relational disabilities and supporting members. As was already successful with the first facility, they have been entrusted with the management of this new Little House. This is a project that sees the young people of the association engaged in the front line, not only as managers, but as true custodians of a common good. This responsibility places them in socially useful activities that go beyond the simple task, becoming a powerful tool for inclusion and bringing them closer to the community, of which they become an increasingly active and visible part.
These modern fountains, in fact, embody a dual mission. On the one hand, they have the fundamental purpose of preserving the environment, educating citizens about the goodness and safety of mains water and encouraging the abandonment of single-use plastic bottles. On the other hand, and just as importantly, they serve an irreplaceable social purpose. They reveal themselves, day after day, valuable meeting and gathering placescapable of uniting different generations and backgrounds around a simple, everyday gesture.
In this way, an anonymous crossroads is transformed into a noble place, a lived-in, frequented and welcome landmark that strengthens the sense of community and the social fabric. The Water House thus becomes a tangible symbol of how a public initiative can generate a virtuous circle of environmental benefits and social growth.
