Gases for welding

In the welding process, gases technicians play an essential role, although they only marginally affect the overall costs of a company.

Standard' welding gas mixtures are mainly used in MAG welding, especially for general carpentry applications.

Since the 1990s, 'Performance' gas mixtures have been introduced, in which gases such as helium and hydrogen are added to traditional gases such as argon and carbon dioxide (CO2) to improve performance.

The use of these advanced blends, particularly for welds destined for sectors such as food, aerospace, automotive and medical, offers significant advantages, including increased process efficiency and speed and improved aesthetic and mechanical characteristics of the welded joint.

Cutting gas

Even in thermal cutting processes, gases technicians play a crucial role, be it laser, plasma or combustible gas cutting, used to separate materials such as slabs, sheet metal or pipes.

Performing' gas mixtures can improve plasma cutting speed and quality, while, in laser cutting, gas purity and the correct configuration of distribution systems are crucial factors in optimising productivity.

The use of gas pure with high purity (such as nitrogen up to 5.0 or 99.999% and oxygen up to 3.5 or 99.95%) allows the cutting speed to be increased up to 20%, while reducing the risk of oxidation or etching on cut edges.
